Chasing grass in Staffordshire

Any excuse to get my camera out and be face to face with a customer, I am absolutely there. So, when I heard that Staffordshire contractors G Robinson LTD were out with their brand new Massey Ferguson 8S. 225 tractor.

With the forecast looming and the sticky humidity in the air, I whizzed over to Rugeley in Staffordshire to see the team. When I say whizzed, unfortunately, it doesn’t mean in the literal form, you could certainly tell lockdown was eased with the traffic on the road. LATE!!

I arrived to the familiar hum of the forager and I could see the gleaming 8S parked up and ready to take over on trailering duties. With a warm welcome from Mrs Robinson, I got right to it and jogged to the bottom of the field. I have a choice of two lenses at the moment because, well, budget, and I LOVE my close up shots with my larger lens but it does require to be a bit further away. Great for the step count right!?

Once at the other end of the field, I assessed my lighting and where my opportunities for the best angles would be. When it comes to photographing machinery, you have to be quick. These farmers just want to get on and have so much to do! I am always conscious that I can please myself and not bother them too much.

There I was diving into the swath of grass, running from one side of the field to another all in the name of great content and I LOVE it!

As well as getting some fabulous photos, I needed to get some comments from the customer. With both Graham and Shaun busy either raking the grass or rolling the clamp, this was going to prove difficult. Thankfully, I got to speak in-depth with Mrs Robinson about the business and the impressive work they have taken on since beginning just 8 years ago.

Does the fun end there? No, it doesn’t. Once I got home it was time to edit the photos and turn the customer comments into a piece of editorial, this can be read below.

“Family run contracting business G Robinson LTD based near Rugeley, Staffordshire have grown an impressive business since they began in 2013. Father and Son team Graham and Shaun took the decision to venture into Agricultural contracting nearly 8 years ago and have consistently worked to secure key contracts around the country and push the business forward.

Now, the family manages a team of 8 tractor drivers completing various agricultural activities year-round.

“No job is too big or place too far when it comes to us. We will always provide a great service wherever the work comes from. We have recently been across to Peterborough, Leicester and York to complete various contracts with our team of drivers. We know we offer a good service and competitive prices which has helped us retain important business each year.” Explains Graham.

With work coming in throughout the year, the team relies on good machines to support the workload. The business recently took delivery of two new Massey Ferguson tractors from KO Machines LTD; a 7719S and 8S.225 Dyna 7.

“Like anyone, we have to have reliable machinery and we need good service from our local dealer. Our tractors average about 2000 hours per year and in peak times we need to feel supported. We have had a few machines from KO and we have always been impressed with their service so we decided to take the plunge and go for two new tractors this year.”

After successful demonstrations Graham and Shaun were left particularly impressed with the new Massey Ferguson 8S model, commenting specifically on the improvements made to the cab. Both tractors were delivered to the team in March 2021 with the 8S already clocking up over 600 hours.

“The process with KO Machines has been fantastic, both sales and service. The team really know what they are doing and they are a great bunch, nothing is too much trouble. When it comes to purchasing a new machine, reliability is key but also a competitively priced machine. When comparing to other brands we found the Massey Ferguson machines to be very sensible. That, paired with the affordable service charge from KO, we felt confident we had a good deal.” Explains Graham and Shaun.

Thank you to the team at G Robinson LTD for your business.”
